Shopping Agenda: “I sing with a group at my church, and had a special concert coming up. We were told to dress casually. To me, casual means jeans. Unfortunately, due to an incident we won’t discuss, I had none….fine, none that fit.”
“Because this would be my only current pair, I wanted jeans that weren’t frumpy, but that could be worn with a t-shirt. Basically, I needed something halfway between Mama Jeans and Hoochie-Mama Jeans. I also needed a top that I could relax in on stage. I didn’t want to worry about gaping buttons or clingy roll-revealing styles.”
Shopping Strategies: “I gathered up coupons for all of my regular shopping stops and headed out with a vision in mind. Over thirty jean-donning-contortions later, I returned home in despair. Jeans . . . are evil.”
“I decided it was time to go with the obvious and head to Old Navy. I searched online for ‘printable Old Navy coupons’ and found that by liking their Facebook page, I could print a coupon for 30% off of one item. Once I got there and loaded up a bag with every single style of jeans in my size, I headed to the clearance section to look for shirts. I found the doesn’t-touch-me-anywhere off-white top for $17.94, and then was thrilled to find the brown tank to go under it for only $3.99!”
Bonus Tip: “When I checked out, I clarified that the 30% would be taken off of the Sweetheart Bootcut jeans I loved, and was glad I asked. The cashier said he would do separate transactions because otherwise the discount would come off of the cheapest item. There’s a big difference between 30% of 29.50 and 30% of 3.99!”
